Surgery
Lip lift is usually performed under local anesthesia and takes about half an hour. No hospital stay is needed — after the procedure you return to your hotel. There are no stitches to remove: absorbable sutures are used.
During the surgery
There are several lip lift techniques. The best known is the Bullhorn: one incision runs along the base of the nose and nostrils, a second runs parallel to it, and the skin between them is removed. The shape of the incision resembles horns, which gives the method its name.
Once the excess skin is removed, the muscles are tightened if needed, and the skin is closed. The upper lip becomes shorter and turns slightly outward. The doctor will tell you which method suits you based on your photos and confirm it at the examination.

Recovery
After surgery, you recover at your hotel while the assistants stay in touch with you. Before you leave, the doctor performs a follow-up check; there are no stitches to remove — they dissolve on their own.

Risks
Like any surgical procedure, a lip lift carries potential risks, including bleeding, infection, swelling, bruising, temporary changes in sensation, asymmetry, and a visible scar. In some cases an additional correction may be needed. The possible risks are discussed with the patient before surgery.
Contraindications
Acute illnesses and inflammatory conditions, including those in the lip area, blood clotting disorders, pregnancy, breastfeeding, and certain chronic conditions may be grounds for postponing surgery or for further evaluation. The decision on whether surgery can go ahead is made by the doctor after assessing the patient’s health.
