How liposuction is performed
Four stages — from the initial assessment to the follow-up check. You’ll know in advance how the preparation, surgery, and recovery unfold.
- 1
Preliminary assessment by the doctor
Send photos and describe the changes you’d like. The doctor will assess your anatomy and the possible scope of correction. An online consultation with the doctor is also available.
- 2
Consultation and preparation in Istanbul
Before surgery, you’ll have an in-person consultation with the doctor and the necessary preoperative workup — its scope depends on the type of surgery and anesthesia.
Preparation and tests
Before your trip, the coordinator will send a short list: which medications to stop in advance, what to bring, and how to prepare for the flight.
In Istanbul, before surgery, you’ll have blood tests, an ECG, and a consultation with the anesthesiologist. The doctor examines the areas to be treated, and together you agree on the surgical plan. If the test results suggest postponing surgery, you’ll know in advance.

Surgery
Through a few small incisions, less than 0.5 cm, the doctor removes excess fat with fine cannulas. The surgery takes about 2 hours — approximately, depending on the scope of the surgery and individual factors. The doctor will confirm the type of anesthesia after the examination. After surgery, the patient stays overnight in the clinic under medical supervision.
During the surgery
The operation is done in two stages. First, a special solution with a local anesthetic and vasoconstricting agents is introduced into the fat layer — it reduces blood loss. Then, through small incisions, excess fat is removed using long, blunt cannulas 2–4 mm in diameter, sometimes 5 mm.
Different goals call for ultrasound, laser, and plasma technologies. Beyond breaking down fat cells, they help the skin in the treated area tighten more effectively.
Ultrasound-assisted liposuction
Gentle on the surrounding tissue, no large skin incisions, and the ability to remove a greater volume of fat in a single operation.
Laser and plasma
Used when indicated — the doctor will tell you which technology suits you after the examination.

Recovery
After discharge, recovery continues at your hotel, and the assistants stay in touch with you. A compression garment is worn for 6 weeks — one is included in the package; on day 7, the doctor performs a follow-up check.
Recovery day by day
0After surgery — one night at the clinic under medical supervision.
1An examination before discharge and transfer to the hotel. Swelling, bruising, and a feeling of tightness can be a normal part of recovery after surgery.
2–6Recovery at the hotel, compression garment, and following the doctor’s recommendations. Avoid physical exertion; the doctor will explain your routine and care before discharge.
7The final check before you leave. By this point any drains that were placed have already been removed, dressings have been changed and stitches taken out. The doctor makes sure that healing is going normally and there are no signs of complications.
6 wkThe compression garment is worn for 6 weeks after surgery. The contours take shape gradually, as the swelling subsides and the skin tightens; scheduled photo check-ins let the doctor follow your recovery over time.
Risks and contraindicationsPatient safety is the priority at every stage. Before the procedure, the doctor assesses the patient’s health.
Risks
As with any surgical procedure, liposuction carries potential risks, including bleeding, infection, swelling, contour irregularities, temporary changes in sensation, asymmetry, and other individual reactions. The outcome is influenced by factors that neither the surgeon nor the patient can fully predict: skin elasticity, age, cellulite, heredity, and hormones. In some cases, an additional correction may be needed. All potential risks are discussed with the patient before surgery.
Contraindications
Acute illnesses and inflammatory conditions, blood-clotting disorders, pregnancy, breastfeeding, and certain chronic conditions may be grounds for postponing surgery or for further evaluation. The decision on whether surgery can proceed is made by the doctors after assessing the patient’s health.
What’s included in your treatment
The medical part only. The doctor will quote the cost once he has seen your photos.
The result depends on you, too
Liposuction refines your body contours, but it is not a substitute for weight loss. The results last when you adjust your lifestyle and diet after surgery.

Questions and answers
Ask a question →How much does the surgery cost?
The cost is calculated individually. The doctor provides it after reviewing your photos. Send them on WhatsApp — you’ll receive a plan and the full price.
When will the result be visible?
You see the first changes right away, but the final contours take shape gradually — as the swelling subsides and the skin tightens. The doctor tracks this through photo check-ins.
Will there be any marks?
The incisions are small — under 0.5 cm. The doctor places them where they are least visible.
When can I return to work and sports?
Timing is individual and depends on how your recovery goes. The doctor will give you personal recommendations at the follow-up check and will stay in touch with you after you return home.
Is liposuction a way to lose weight?
No. Liposuction removes localized fat deposits that are resistant to diet and exercise, and refines your body contours. The results last with a stable weight and a healthy lifestyle.
How many days do I need to be in Istanbul?
For surgeries under general anesthesia we recommend 7–8 days in Istanbul — from arrival to the follow-up check; under local anesthesia, 2–3 days. The coordinator will agree exact dates with you after the doctor’s preliminary assessment.
When can I fly home?
After the follow-up check on day 7. The doctor clears you to go home once he’s confident your recovery is on track.
