How gynecomastia correction works
Four stages — from the initial assessment to the follow-up check. You’ll know in advance how the preparation, surgery, and recovery unfold.

Consultation and preparation in Istanbul
Before surgery, you’ll have an in-person consultation with the doctor and the necessary preoperative workup — its scope depends on the type of surgery and anesthesia.
Preparation and tests
During the consultation, the doctor assesses what is causing the increased breast volume — glandular or fatty tissue — and discusses the treatment plan with you. In some cases, additional testing may be needed before surgery to rule out hormonal and other causes.
Before surgery, you’ll have lab tests and a consultation with the anesthesiologist. If you take any medications or have chronic conditions, please let us know in advance.

Surgery
The surgical technique is chosen individually, depending on which type of tissue predominates. The doctor will discuss the type of anesthesia and the duration with you in advance. After surgery, the patient stays overnight at the clinic under medical supervision.
During the surgery
If the increased breast volume is mostly due to fatty tissue, the correction can be done with liposuction. If glandular tissue predominates, it is removed through a small incision. These methods are often combined — the doctor decides on the final plan after an in-person exam.

Recovery
After discharge, recovery continues at the hotel, and the assistants stay in touch with you. During the recovery period you wear compression garments, and the doctor performs a follow-up check before your departure.

7The final check before you leave. By this point any drains that were placed have already been removed, dressings have been changed and stitches taken out. The doctor makes sure that healing is going normally and there are no signs of complications.
Risks and contraindicationsPatient safety is the priority at every stage. Before the procedure, the doctor assesses the patient’s health.
Risks
Like any surgical procedure, gynecomastia correction carries possible risks, including bleeding, fluid buildup, infection, swelling, temporary changes in sensation, contour irregularities, and asymmetry. In some cases an additional correction may be needed. The possible risks are discussed with the patient before surgery.
Contraindications
Acute illnesses and inflammatory conditions, blood clotting disorders, uncorrected hormonal imbalances, and certain chronic conditions may be grounds for postponing surgery or ordering further evaluation. The decision on whether surgery is possible is made by the doctors after assessing the patient's health.

When will the swelling go down?
Swelling subsides gradually over several weeks. The timeline depends on the extent of the correction — the doctor will tell you what to expect at the follow-up check.
Will the scars be visible?
Incisions are placed in less noticeable areas where possible. Their location depends on the chosen technique and is discussed during the consultation.
When can I return to work and sports?
Timing is individual and depends on how your recovery goes. The doctor will give you personal recommendations at the follow-up check and will stay in touch with you after you return home.
Can it be treated without surgery?
If the enlargement is related to excess weight or hormonal causes, an evaluation and conservative measures are sometimes recommended first. The doctor will determine whether surgery is right for you after an in-person exam.
How many days do I need to be in Istanbul?
For surgeries under general anesthesia we recommend 7–8 days in Istanbul — from arrival to the follow-up check; under local anesthesia, 2–3 days. The coordinator will agree exact dates with you after the doctor’s preliminary assessment.
When can I fly home?
After the follow-up check on day 7. The doctor clears you to go home once he’s confident your recovery is on track.
